Kings

Matthew 2:1-12

This is the passage that tells what is best known to us as the story of the three kings.

But this story is really about five kings.

Jesus, the King of kings; Herod, King of Judea; and three Magi from the East.

At the coming of God the Baby King

Four Kings searched carefully for Him

One King remained in darkness while

Three Kings followed His light.

One King set himself against the King of Kings,

And brought senseless devastation in a misguided attempt to protect his own kingdom.

Yet, three Kings came and bowed before Him, bringing gifts:
Symbols of their submission to His rule, to His will and His ways...to His Kingdom.

Have we been searching for Him?

He is Emanuel. He is God. He is with Us.

We have a choice...

To set our being against Him

Or to bow in submission to His rule over our lives.

To fight in a misguided attempt to protect our own kingdom
Or to join the will and the ways of God and invite the spread of His Kingdom in and through us.

What will we choose?

Will we bow our spirits before the Baby King?
